The self-steering ecology is what the model amounts to once signal, standing, and bearing are read together. It is cybernetic — not in the machine-control sense, but in the original systems sense of sensing → feedback → adjustment → continued viability.
It does not need a central planner who already knows the ideal society. It needs an ecology capable of perceiving itself, letting signal circulate, recognizing the standing of signal carriers, enabling participants to orient, granting appropriate jurisdiction to act, observing consequences, and correcting course.
Growth, on this picture, is not centrally planned but emerges from countless local navigational corrections — a service built where a need was noticed, a method improved, an institution changing course — aggregating into the trajectory of the whole. It reframes the model as an operational feedback architecture rather than a list of values: standing lets a participant be heard, signal lets the field perceive, interior sovereignty allows genuine interpretation, aliveness supplies movement, embodiment gives it form, participation gives it consequence, bearing steers that consequence toward greater ecological capacity, and the consequences generate new signal, closing the loop. Its two halves are the distributed sensory system (perceiving) and distributed steering intelligence (acting). See The Self-Steering Ecology.
